There’s always more to a business than the name on the website or the services on offer. Our third Tuggerah Member Spotlight takes us behind the business, giving three SBNG members 10 minutes each to share their expertise, their stories and a glimpse into what they really do.

Mehrdad D. Zadeh from Efficiency Pioneers explores The Journey to Net Zero: Why Energy Efficiency Comes First, revealing why understanding energy waste can be the smartest first step towards lower costs and greater sustainability. Rachel Burgess from The Hidden Asset Agent shares The Perfectly Imperfect Line Forward, taking us into the fascinating world where accounting meets investigation and small financial clues can reveal a much bigger story. And Steve Barry from Terrigal Web Services asks Scam or Legit?, bringing his technical know-how and trademark humour to the increasingly tricky challenge of knowing what — and who — to trust online.

Survive to Thrive in the Current Economy

When business conditions are challenging, it’s easy to focus on what we don’t have — enough time, budget, skills, contacts or resources. But what if we could become just 20% more resourceful with what we already have?

Our guest speaker this week is Ashok Alexander, founder of Reclaim Self, and he will be sharing his take on the Above/Below the Line model, exploring how stress, fear and familiar patterns can influence the way we think, react and make decisions. He’ll also look at that fascinating gap between knowing what we should do and actually being able to respond that way when we’re under pressure.

Combining practical business thinking with mindset, somatic awareness and breathwork, Ashok will share two simple techniques to help us approach challenges with greater awareness, choice and resourcefulness. You’ll leave with practical tools you can use immediately — and perhaps discover that you already have more resources available than you realised.

You know your business. You know the difference you can make. But when someone asks, “So, what do you do?”, do you sometimes find yourself stumbling over the answer, saying too much, playing yourself down – or wishing afterwards that you’d explained it better?

For many small business owners, promoting ourselves doesn’t come naturally. Yet if we can’t confidently communicate what we do and why it matters, how can we expect other people to understand our value – or remember us when an opportunity comes along?

Speak Up for Your Business is a practical, hands-on workshop designed to help you become more confident talking about yourself and your business.

Together, we’ll explore the story and inspiration behind your business, clarify who you really love helping and the problems you solve, and help you shape those ideas into a clear, engaging message that sounds like you.

You’ll have time to think, write, experiment and practise in a supportive environment – so you leave better equipped to talk about your business at networking events, in conversations with potential clients, and whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Because being brilliant at what you do is only part of the equation.

You also need the confidence to tell people about it.

10-Minute AGM ... Then Big Ideas for 2027

Let's be honest... the words "Annual General Meeting" probably aren't enough on their own to make you leap out of bed in the morning.

The good news? Our AGM is short, simple, and usually wrapped up in around 10 minutes. It's simply an opportunity to review the year that's been, meet our governance requirements, and elect the Committee that helps keep SBNG running.

And no... we're not planning to ambush anyone into taking on a Committee role! Although if you've secretly been waiting for your moment to shine, go right ahead and nominate for a position on this form.

Once the formalities are over, we'll jump straight back into what SBNG does best - connecting great people and sharing great ideas.

After our usual introductions around the room, we'll break into small groups for an interactive brainstorming session where you get to help shape what SBNG looks like in 2027.

What new ideas could make our network even stronger?
What's working brilliantly ... and what could we do even better?

This is your opportunity to have a genuine voice in the future direction of our network. Whether you've been with SBNG for years or have only recently joined, your ideas and perspective matter.
