Our Member Spotlight events are a fabulous opportunity to discover more about the people within SBNG — three members, three very different stories, and around 10 minutes each to share their expertise, experience and what drives them.

This month, David Kent takes us beyond business with The Promise Kept, sharing the story behind a sailing journey now being brought to life as a documentary. Alana Jones from Modern Property Buyers turns to a favourite Australian conversation — property — with What’s Happening in the Property Market and How to Buy Better. Drawing on 10 years of investing, renovating and developing, she’ll share insights into today’s market and some of the tips and tricks that can help buyers make smarter decisions. And Anthony Durazza from Random Guerrilla takes us onto the golf course, where preparation, performance and a rather unconventional brand philosophy come together.

That’s the magic of Member Spotlight — discovering the people behind local businesses, understanding their expertise and strengthening the connections within our SBNG community.

Plus of course you'll have the opportunity to introduce yourself and your business to other small business owners and managers as you present your 20 second Elevator Pitch.

You know your business. You know the difference you can make. But when someone asks, “So, what do you do?”, do you sometimes find yourself stumbling over the answer, saying too much, playing yourself down – or wishing afterwards that you’d explained it better?

For many small business owners, promoting ourselves doesn’t come naturally. Yet if we can’t confidently communicate what we do and why it matters, how can we expect other people to understand our value – or remember us when an opportunity comes along?

Speak Up for Your Business is a practical, hands-on workshop designed to help you become more confident talking about yourself and your business.

Together, we’ll explore the story and inspiration behind your business, clarify who you really love helping and the problems you solve, and help you shape those ideas into a clear, engaging message that sounds like you.

You’ll have time to think, write, experiment and practise in a supportive environment – so you leave better equipped to talk about your business at networking events, in conversations with potential clients, and whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Because being brilliant at what you do is only part of the equation.

You also need the confidence to tell people about it.

10-Minute AGM ... Then Big Ideas for 2027

Let's be honest... the words "Annual General Meeting" probably aren't enough on their own to make you leap out of bed in the morning.

The good news? Our AGM is short, simple, and usually wrapped up in around 10 minutes. It's simply an opportunity to review the year that's been, meet our governance requirements, and elect the Committee that helps keep SBNG running.

And no... we're not planning to ambush anyone into taking on a Committee role! Although if you've secretly been waiting for your moment to shine, go right ahead and nominate for a position on this form.

Once the formalities are over, we'll jump straight back into what SBNG does best - connecting great people and sharing great ideas.

After our usual introductions around the room, we'll break into small groups for an interactive brainstorming session where you get to help shape what SBNG looks like in 2027.

What new ideas could make our network even stronger?
What's working brilliantly ... and what could we do even better?

This is your opportunity to have a genuine voice in the future direction of our network. Whether you've been with SBNG for years or have only recently joined, your ideas and perspective matter.
